Bee Yummy Skinfood

Bee Yummy Skinfood

I first read about Bee Yummy Skinfood on the High on Health blog sometime last year. I remember thinking that the next time I was in NYC I would check out the little store, live, live & organic, that makes the product. Well, everytime I’m in NYC I’m so busy that I completely forget. In the meantime, I’ve gone through a few different moisturizers and had some frustrating results because of my sensitive skin.

Before I get into their products, let me just say that if you have skin issues, take a look at Fran’s blog (Highonhealth.org). Start with her newest articles and work backwards -she’s tested tons of products, foods, recipes, cleansing methods, etc - and has built up quite a number of great tips and a helpful, supportive community. I bought her ebook and read through her mini-course… most of which I had already learned from Amy Arnold’s holistic health program, VitalSelf. But she still had great tips and pointers. I would recommend it for anyone who has never deeply investigated the connection between diet, stress and skin conditions.

Back to Bee Yummy. I finally called them and requested a sample. To my delight, I received 3 samples: Skinfood, Facelift and Eye & Lip cream. The Skinfood (moisturizer) and Facelift (face mask) have lots good stuff from bees in them - and you can tell by their sweet tasteĀ  - yes, go ahead and taste them because they are 100% natural, organic and made from edible stuff. Just don’t go eating it… The eye & lip cream (the green one) has olive oil, beeswax and Balsam Fir needles- it really smells like Balsam too. I’ve never used products like these on my skin and I have to say - two thumbs up!

As Fran indicated on her site, as a new user, if your pores are clogged, you might get a few small breakouts as the skinfood does it’s work (she calls it a “purge”). But honey is a natural anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral, so it’s good for problematic skin. Just be patient and give it a little time to work. I’m only in week 2 and so far, so good. Now I definitely have to visit the little shop and check out their other products, including lots of healthy snacks (kale chips!), classes and books. When I do, I’ll post an update - an hopefully a video!
